Work, ambition to spare and the constant desire for challenge and adrenaline! This is what punctuates the daily life of Romane Miradoli, alpine ski champion. To meet her, go to her station, Flaine, located in the territories of Magland and Arâches-la-Frasse.

My name is Romane Miradoli, I am from Flaine and I am 29 years old. I am a high-level athlete: I do alpine skiing.

Alpine skiing in competition

Alpine skiing generally consists of connecting point A to point B as quickly as possible. I like to say that the Géant is the purest technique in skiing. Super G is a bit of a “one shot”: a giant with speed, my favorite discipline. And finally the descent, which is the discipline that goes the fastest. We can reach 140 km/h. I deeply love these 3 disciplines.

A golden journey

I was born with skis on my feet. It's true that when you live in Flaine, you leave the house and put on your skis.
I learned to ski, I joined the club, I competed. Everything was going well for me so I joined the Comité Mont-Blanc. Then I joined the French Ski Federation 13 years ago now. I did my first World Cup in December 2012. I have been on the World Cup circuit for more than ten years now… I still love this passion-filled job!

Medals and ambitions!

I have two podiums under my belt, including one victory. This is, I think, what every athlete is looking for. Getting on the podiums in the World Cup is a dream, especially for me. I won my first World Cup race on March 5, 2022 and I got another podium last year in Super G.
I still had small injuries: it wasn't easy. I'm actually coming back from an injury. My goal is to return to competition initially, in the Super G and Downhill disciplines. I would really like to start some starts again in the Géant this winter. My next challenges will be the World Championship and the Olympic Games in Milano Cortina in 2026.

“I have been getting closer to the best for several years now.
Whatever happens, I will follow my dream.."

Live from your passion

I particularly like going down fast, the adrenaline at the start, pushing my limits. These are sensations that I constantly seek. It is my driving force, which pushes me to continue, which is at the heart of my motivation and pushes me to continue training and taking starts. I also like to travel: as an athlete you ski in the most beautiful resorts in the world. It’s true that I never get tired of it! As long as I'm having this much fun and my body is following suit, then I'm not likely to stop!

Pain in the heart

I am attached to Flaine, because it is my station, the one where I grew up. We have Mont-Blanc on the other side, we can switch. It’s super cool! It’s a resort that links art, culture, skiing, sport, tourism… It’s a great combo that I like. I'm really attached to this place.
