We are not going to tell you about horse riding in this beautiful moment, but one of the most popular sports in France: cycling! Let it be said, cycling is fashionable: we practice it to go to work, to get bread or to get some fresh air. In short, the little queen is on the rise in her departments. If we add to this the fact that our territory is now crossed by the Léman / Mont-Blanc cycle route, we are easily tempted by a small family outing.

Draysienne, wheeled bike or hybrid bike?

At each age its mount (and its gourd, some would say!)! Departing from the tourist office, take a 3,5 km walk along the Arve, which takes you to the Thyez leisure center. On the program, a wide and flat course crisscrossed with rest areas and games. The path is lined with trees all the way, which allows you to find shade, even when the heat wave makes its appearance. We like its proximity to water and greenery, while being close to urban life and its facilities (nearby bus stops).

And on the other side?

It is also possible to leave, from the tourist office, in the direction of Sallanches. The walk will be suitable for older children because it takes 7km to reach Magland. Just as pleasant as on the other side, you will see the Arve in a new light.

Why is the Arve this green-gray color?

This must be one of the questions we are asked the most at the tourist office. Some mountain lakes have a somewhat milky color that comes from microscopic clay particles suspended in the water. This is the case of the Arve, a fairly tumultuous river in Geneva which contains ultra fine particles of clay in suspension, which gives it a grayish appearance.
