Old stones speak to you: listen carefully. They breathe in you the work of the ancestors and the life they led. To tell you about a Carmel, a bread oven, a chapel, is to relate the stories and legends associated with it. Our history is rich ... And we are going to tell it to you.

Le Reposoir

Porte d'Âge, Le Reposoir, Chartreux, haute-savoie
Gate of Age, the Reposoir

The traces of the Carthusian monks are still very present in this village. The old Charterhouse, its Chapel of Blessed John of Spain and its Porte d'Age testify to all the richness of the Reposoir's history.

Nancy sur Cluses

Fours à pain Nancy-sur-Cluses
Bread ovens, Nancy-sur-Cluses

The village has managed to remain authentic: its built heritage has been spared by real estate construction and mass tourism. The houses, attics and twin ovens are typically Savoyard. They are also witnesses to the rich peddling past of the nancherots which unfolded from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century.

Saint-sigismond

Eglise de Saint-Sigismond
Church of Saint-Sigismond

Around 1720, the watchmaking industry developed practically in all the farms of Saint-Sigismond. This art was established in the province of Faucigny under the leadership of Claude Joseph Ballaloud, a native of the village, who had learned to work the rudiments of watchmaking in Nuremberg and Geneva.

Mont-saxonnex

Église de Mont-Saxonnex, belvédère du Faucigny, Alpes, Haute-Savoie
Church of Mont-Saxonnex

In the XNUMXth century, times were hard for the peasants. Many people are trained in the manufacture of small timepieces which will be sold to factories in Geneva. The result is a characteristic type of habitat in Mont-Saxonnex, still observable, of a rural house with a facade pierced with large windows with small panes, lighting up a long workbench.
