After a career oriented towards industry and construction, Bertrand Sanglard fell in love with the mountains. Living in Mont-Saxonnex, he became a high mountain guide and multiplies activities throughout the seasons.

The start of a passion

Hello, my name is Bertrand Sanglard, I am a mountain guide and I live in Mont-Saxonnex. I discovered the mountain when I was a teenager. We went to mountain camps in Vanoise: I've always been drawn to these peaks.

I arrived in Haute-Savoie about fifteen years ago. I have a background in the industry. At that time, I was a works supervisor and I started to hike a lot, then I quickly needed to go to the glaciers. I progressed until the day I had the idea of becoming a guide. I validated my mountain guide training in 2017.

A perfect setting

I would never have thought of living in Mont-Saxonnex, but I already knew Bargy a little bit to come and climb it. This village has the particularity of being rather intimate: there are places that are still little known.

Mont-Saxonnex is very central in the department. Living here allows me to radiate throughout Haute-Svoie, which is practical for my dual activity. I also work for the mountain federation and it is easy for me to visit the clubs in the territory.

Nature is very present here. In the end, even if we came to live in Mont-Saxonnex somewhat by chance, we are very happy to live in this magnificent setting.

A multitude of activities

You can do a lot of activities here: ice climbing in winter, ski touring, climbing and hiking in summer. I like this multitude of offers and their variety according to the seasons.

As soon as we start to have enough of the snow in the spring, we are happy to find the rock for climbing. We are lucky to live in this region which offers an incredible playground.
