Yoan Jeandemange, a para-alpine skier from Cluses, tells us his story after a plane crash in 2017. Between personal challenges and international competitions, he is aiming for the 2026 Paralympic Games.

My name is Yoan Jeandemange, I am 33 years old and I do para alpine skiing.

Skiing as motivation

In July 2017, I was in a plane crash. While I was in hospital, I watched the Olympic Games in South Korea, which immediately made me want to get back into skiing, with the goal of one day taking the plunge into competition.

I first skied with a prosthesis on two legs, then four years ago I started skiing on one leg. For me, skiing is synonymous with freedom.

ONE GOAL IN MIND

We're leaving again next week for 3 World Cup slaloms in Germany and my big goal is to give myself a chance to participate in the Paralympic Games in 2026. I'm aware that I still have to improve my level and pass a milestone to be able to claim it, but I'm not giving up.

ALWAYS ON THE SLOPES

I was born in the valley, in Cluses. I grew up here and I went down my first slopes in Les Carroz when I was 3 years old. For 4 years, I have been lucky enough to train with the ski club in summer and winter.
