Sylvain Legendre has been passionate about fishing since the age of 3. Self-taught, he honed his skills by joining clubs as a teenager and exploring over 30 countries in search of new ways to fish. For him, fishing is much more than a hobby: it's a true adventure. He encourages everyone to believe in their passion, despite external doubts, because with willpower and commitment, it's possible to make it a way of life.

My name is Sylvain Legendre, I am 48 years old, I live in Sallanches and I work in Marnaz.

When passion bites the hook

As far back as I can remember, I started fishing at the age of 3, with a small piece of wood at the edge of a puddle. Of course, I wasn't catching anything, but little by little, my passion grew.

I trained on my own, joining fishing clubs as a teenager. I met a few mentors along the way, but this passion was born naturally.

Around the world, cane in hand

I travel a lot, for and by fishing. It's truly a passion. I've fished in about thirty different countries. What I'm looking for is more the experience, the places, the ways of fishing, than the fish itself. Each time, it's a new adventure.

Always believe in your dreams

If I had one piece of advice to give myself when I was younger, it would be to dream big. My parents never encouraged me in this direction, they told me: "Stop being so energetic, you'll never achieve anything with it." A bit like some people who tell their children the same thing about mountains, cycling, etc.

In reality, there are always opportunities. If you give yourself the means, if you invest, if you are passionate, there is almost always a way to make a living from what you love, on different scales, of course. They are not always prestigious professions, but if you don't give up, you will eventually succeed.
