Sarah is the creator of Lutineries de Syrah, a creative sewing business specializing in handmade zero waste items. She reveals her inspiring journey, her projects and her commitment to a more ecological lifestyle.

Hello, my name is Sarah, I'm 35 years old and I do creative sewing. In 2020, I created the company Les Lutineries de Syrah.

an ecological project

After the birth of my first child, I wanted to adopt healthier habits. As a result, 15 years ago I found myself hosting zero waste events.

Then I had 2 more children and I started chasing time. I then adopted lifestyle and consumption habits that did not suit me. I wanted to offer simple and concrete solutions for all those who wanted to put their lives back on an eco-responsible path.

Les Lutineries de Syrah are essentially zero waste items, made by hand in my workshop in Scionzier. I also offer accessories, decoration and quite a few gift ideas.

Today I offer my products at local markets and craft fairs, and I have an online store which allows you to place orders using Click&Collect.

The installation in the valley

I settled in Scionzier because I come from here and it’s a region that I like. But also because the Arve Valley, due to its strong industrial activity and its geographical location, it presents very important environmental issues: it seemed natural to me to do this here, in the heart of the Arve Valley. 'Arve.

within reach of local actors

2 years ago, the Poisy Town Hall chose to remove its paper towels from its elementary school, and I had the chance to participate in this magnificent project. In total, I made almost 300 napkins. It is this opportunity that was offered to me that made me want today to raise awareness and support economic players who represent an important environmental issue.

At the same time, my main project remains to develop my network of partners because I want to strengthen my local presence, and thus offer my products in a more accessible way to the inhabitants of our beautiful valley.
