Rémi is a great enthusiast: passionate about the mountains first, where he decided to build his life there. Passionate about skiing, then, he gives without counting for the smooth running of the ski resort in his village. Passionate about Le Reposoir, finally, where he likes to share good times with his friends, family and new encounters. Discover a life at a mile an hour, always in a good mood!

Rémi, the repojerand Swiss army knife…

“My name is Rémi Zanin, I'm 35, I'm a ski instructor in the winter and I work at Carmel du Reposoir in the summer. I'm going to start my 4th season at Carmel, it's a job that fell on me a bit by chance because I had been working in carpentry for about ten years and then I had the opportunity to replace a colleague who was retiring. »

A work environment like no other.

“At Carmel, I'm a bit of a handyman, the upkeep of exteriors and interiors. It's fun because it's really varied and the days pass quickly. Even if I don't have skills in everything, I try either with the help of colleagues or acquaintances or else I involve other craftsmen but we always try to solve the problems. I'm a mountain lover, I'm from the valley, I've always wanted to live there and now it's true that I'm lucky to be able to work there all year round. In the morning when I arrive at 7am, I'm all alone, it's calm, these are pleasant sensations because there's no noise, it's magnificent. The Carmel is a setting that is special, it's still a building that is almost 1000 years old, I'm lucky to be able to work there and go to places where no one ever goes. There's a bit of a secret side to it and the person I replaced didn't say much about what was going on inside either, that's part of the charm of the place. »

United and solitary…but not only!

“I was baptized, I made my communions but I don't go to mass every Sunday. At first it felt a bit weird to me because it's not something I'm used to. The sisters are people who are smiling, attentive, who are very cultured, they are open, they have television, they watch a little news, they read the newspapers, they read a lot and they are very interested in the people of the village. . They often inquire if there are births, how people are doing, I find that nice. I don't often have the opportunity to work with them because they have other things to do, but there are still a few times in the garden, I go and help them and it's nice. They teach me things and I give them a hand. Otherwise, most of the time I stay alone. »

Committed…in all modesty!

“My role as an elected official… I was mainly elected at the grassroots level in relation to my winter job, which is a ski instructor. I was offered two terms ago to be elected to the Reposoir and to be part of the ski commission. I want to take care of this village and then I like being able to lend a hand at the level of the municipality. I try to bring the skills I have and I give a little bit of myself, for fun.

There are ups and downs, not everything goes as planned, it's still a small ski resort, we sometimes have snow problems, we always have things to fix, but in the end from time to time we always manage to do it and I'm quite proud of what we manage to do for a small resort like us. It's also interesting to be elected in relation to many other things, it allows us to get to know the village a little better, there are a lot of things that I didn't know and it's true that this n is not easy to manage. It's not me who manages the village but it's interesting to look into it. »

Never tired...

“I have also been at the sports club as a volunteer and on the hunting committee for 3 years. I'm not from the village but I appreciate it, and as I plan to spend a good part of my life there, I want to get involved, for my children and the children of others. Getting involved also means meeting other people you're not used to seeing and having a good time. »
