Patrick Monterrain and more broadly the Monterrain family, is one of those old Clusian families who knew how to undertake, develop and renew themselves. In the world of Savoyard printing, Patrick, with a joking air, leads a life at 100 per hour to provide his customers with top products and to meet all their requests. Meet this purebred mountaineer.

Printing: a family history

“The Monterrain printing company was created by my father in 1972. We joined it with my brother and then naturally we took over. Our children joined us 10 years ago: succession is assured! Building on this continuity, in 2016 we built our new building located at the entrance to Cluses, in La Maladière. We will celebrate our 2022th anniversary in 50.”

A homegrown business for locals

“We are the only printer between Chamonix, Morzine and Cluses. We print a lot for local clients, whom we know well: town halls, tourist offices, ski lifts, industry, small and medium-sized businesses, etc. This allows for a personalized relationship. We know everyone’s expectations and can be very responsive by being in close proximity.”

A profession that moves

“Ten years ago, our job revolved a lot around paper. But since then, the volume of classic paper printing has decreased to diversify: panels, tarpaulins, signs, lettering, printing on wood, cutting. Our strength comes from the fact that we were able to invest at the right time in this diversification, to enable us to respond to the multiple demands of customers.”

Here we do everything, everything, everything

“We use classic printing: leaflets, brochures, books, booklets, flyers, etc. We also focus on flatbed printing. We print on any material up to 5 cm thick, such as metal or wood. We can also supply large formats: tarpaulins, roll-ups, stickers.

Clearly, there are few requests that we cannot answer. And when we don’t know, we always manage to find solutions!”

Passion as a driving force in the morning

“I fell into this profession since I was very young since my dad was a printer and I am very happy that the children are picking up after us. Working locally, with people you know, building a real, solid human relationship: people are what motivates me the most at the moment.

This is what keeps me going, what makes me want to go out of my way for people, to always do my best to be of service and to ensure that customers are fully satisfied.”

A UFO in the French landscape

“French printing is on the verge of disappearing. But here, we are lucky to be in a region of full employment where we have work. Turning still has a bright future ahead of it, tourism will continue to develop. Monterrain is doing well in this context: by having chosen to diversify, we are competitive and can respond to all requests.”
