Marie Dominique Bayle is the creator of Atelier Vitrail du Léman, a place where light becomes a work of art. Having started with painting on canvas, she discovered stained glass out of curiosity… and never looked back. Her unconventional path has led her to take on challenges, particularly as a woman in a profession still marked by tradition. Based in Magland, she thrives in a daily life where no two days are alike. For her, each project is a new adventure to be fully embraced.

My name is Marie Dominique Bayle, I am the manager and creator of the Vitrail du Léman workshop.

When curiosity leads to enlightenment

My path is a bit unusual, as it's not a typical one. I came to the world of stained glass through glass painting. I was initially drawn to this technique because I also come from a background in painting on canvas. They are completely different concepts, and since I'm naturally curious, one thing led to another, and I quickly fell into the world of stained glass.

The biggest challenge is being a woman. It's becoming less complicated over time, but it's still relevant. When a man is working in the workshop and a visitor comes in, they don't speak to me, but to the man wearing a lab coat.

A local connection that makes sense

The town of Magland welcomed us very well; it is a town hall steeped in arts and crafts and which quickly understood us, supported us and integrated us into many projects, particularly with the local nursing homes.

No routine, only surprises!

There is no such thing as a typical day here because every day is a discovery, we live in the present moment, one after the other.

Tomorrow will be made up of things we may not know about, and that's what I love!

Let yourself be surprised…
