behind the lens

“My name is Alain Duval and I have lived in Mont-Saxonnex for 30 years. When I arrived here, I said to myself “Wow, what a region!”. There is everything here, the human heritage, the built heritage, the landscapes... It's a dream place.

With my wife Liliane, we wrote a book about the village: “The encyclopedia of Mont-Saxonnex”, and we started like that, little by little to make films, exhibitions, events, because people want to to tell their story.

I had demand almost everywhere, I did a lot of things and in particular films “Chronique des alpages”, “Bargy”, “Paysan Horloger”, “Vormy”… to collect testimonies.”

A thousand and one facets

“I really like tinkering! I worked on prototypes at Renault near Le Havre so I am manual and creative. I made a lot of trophies for ski races, for the Vulture, which allowed me to invest in equipment.

Sculptures, small workshops, photography are among my many passions. I’ve been retired for 10 years and I’m having a blast, it’s a joy!”

Become aware of the value of life

“We must awaken minds, not lose contact with people and preserve our know-how. I really liked Frédéric LENOIR’s book “The Healing of the World”. This is a reading that I highly recommend.

Our world is sick and the best remedy is to reach out to others. I have time, I can help. I like to share strong moments and convey emotions.”

Always on the move.

“At the moment I am working on several very interesting projects, a documentary on the incinerator, a sensory workshop for Alzheimer's, a chronological film on COVID-19 and many others to tell, witness and remember.”
