For three centuries, the inhabitants of the Arve Valley have worked on the mass production of small metal parts. At the beginning of the 1848th century, it was a craft practiced by peasants, in addition to their agricultural work. Their production is resold to wealthy Swiss watch factories, particularly in Geneva. From XNUMX, the watchmakers of the Arve Valley benefited from high-quality professional education with the creation of a watchmaking school (today the Charles Poncet high school). This will boost economic activity, just like the advent of electricity and the mechanization of production in the second half of the XNUMXth century.
Then bar turning, a machining technique that became an industry in its own right, supplanted watchmaking from the 20th century. Today, industrial activity is still characterized by this subcontracted production, but the outlets are multiple. The high-tech companies work in the automobile, aeronautics, telephony and even medical prosthetics sectors.

For 7 years, COM'les PROS has been an event organized in October. It allows you to visit businesses in the valley for free for 2 weeks.
The first event dedicated to company visits in Haute Savoie, the idea is to invite the general public to go through company doors to discover local know-how. Rich in an economic fabric of more than 500 companies, our territory allows the discovery of all sectors of activity. Who has never dreamed of joining companies with world-famous names that have gone beyond the borders of our territory? Know what parts make up our cars? What's going on behind the scenes?
