The two Savoys are the most mountainous departments in France. Haut-Savoyard agriculture is very different from the rest of French agriculture: the quality and specificity of its products and its producers rank it among the most remarkable. Welcome to our terroirs where ancestral know-how is the secret of our local products!

Abundances galore!

Our breeds of cows are among the most representative of Haute - Savoie: Abondances, Tarines (or Tarentaises) and Montbéliardes. These breeds are the only ones authorized to manufacture certain cheese, in particular the famous Reblochon. These breeds adapt to harsh conditions and relief.

But also goats!

The alpine (or chamois) goat is the most represented breed in our beautiful territory. Its milk gives birth to sumptuous cheese !

The farmers sustainably and respectfully maintain these pastures which are the hidden treasure of our territory. It is both a place of work and a place of leisure for hikers. The farms are mainly family owned and ancestral traditions are passed down from generation to generation.

The seasons punctuate agricultural work: wintering the herds, climbing the mountain pastures in summer, hay on the mountainside… The work is tough and adaptation is permanent.

Lou Montagnis association: from la Colombière to Vormy

Farmers and mountaineers working in the towns of Reposoir and Nancy-sur-Cluses have come together in the “Lou Montagnis” association to unite, animate and promote agriculture.
