Fabienne Paire: life in color

Fabienne practices the Japanese technique of Raku, “happiness in chance”.

Unlike a classic ceramic firing which involves slow rises and falls in temperature in the oven, a raku firing is short. The part is quickly brought up to the maturing temperature of the enamel and taken out directly from the oven. The thermal shock induces different retractions of the enamel and the earth. Cracks appear in the glaze. The piece is then immersed in a container containing organic matter which penetrates the cracks of the enamel and draws subtle black networks.

Fabienne Paire loves colors!
